Videos : Abdomen: Kidney

Renal cell carcinoma invades the IVC and extends into the right atrium
Sequence of images nicely shows a hypervascular birenal cell carcinoma growing into the right renal vein, IVC and into the right atrium. This is just a beautiful example of the role of volume rendering and 3D mapping in staging renal tumors.

This study nicely defines evidence of a mass of the left adrenal gland that does show some enhancement. The mass was an adenoma. Incidental hemangioma left lobe of liver is seen.

The patient has evidence of an aortic dissection. The scans define the extent of dissection and the relationship to key vessels including the left renal arteries where the main portion of the kidney is fed off the false lumen and the lower pole off the true lumen due to multiple renal arteries. The study nicely shows the variations of perfusion in this case.

Kidney and liver: 3D reconstructions demonstrate a solitary right kidney with a perfusion abnormality seen on the arterial phase imaging of the liver, which is better seen on the venous phase imaging and is consistent with a venous malformation.

Obstructed duplicated ureter: Sequence of images using axial, sagittal, and 3D volume rendering demonstrates a duplicated collecting system of th eleft kidney with an obstructive upper pole ureter with loss of cortex int he upper pole of the left kidney. There is an ectopic ureterocele also noted. The entire process is well demonstrated on a sequence of images but especially nicely shown on 3D mapping.
